Copyright & Fair Use – Honky Tonk Town

Copyright & Fair Use

How we use third-party material, and how to ask us to remove it.

Fair Use

Honky Tonk Town may include copyrighted material used under the principles of Fair Use, as outlined in Section 107 of the U.S. Copyright Act of 1976. Fair Use permits limited use of copyrighted content for purposes such as criticism, commentary, news reporting, teaching, scholarship and research.

Everything published here is intended for informational, educational and commentary purposes. We are a curation and commentary project: we point people toward country music, its history and the artists who made it, and we credit the source whenever we can identify it.

Ownership

All rights to the original recordings, videos, photographs and artwork remain with their respective copyright holders. We do not claim ownership of any third-party material that appears on this site, and we do not sell, license or sublicense it.

Where content is embedded from Spotify, YouTube or another platform, it is delivered by that platform under its own terms, and the rights holder keeps whatever controls that platform gives them, including the ability to restrict or remove it at any time.

If you own something published here

If you are a rights holder, or represent one, and you would rather your material was not on this site, write to us and we will take it down. We do not argue the point and we do not ask you to justify the request.

Send an email to music@honkytonktown.com with the subject line Content Removal Request and include:

  • The address of the page on this site where the material appears.
  • A description of the material in question, or a link to the original.
  • Your name and your relationship to the work, for example the rights holder, the artist, the label or an authorised representative.
  • An email address we can reply to.

We review every request and aim to respond within 72 hours. Confirmed requests are removed promptly, usually the same day we see them.

Credit and corrections

We try to credit photographers, songwriters, labels and archives correctly, but our sources are not always complete. If something here is credited to the wrong person, or is missing a credit entirely, tell us at music@honkytonktown.com and we will fix it rather than remove it, if that is what you prefer.

Using our material
